Countries in the world are at different stages of development and possess unique historical and cultural backgrounds. Although countries share the same development aspirations, they do not require a single model. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is such an open framework. The book is a response from the China Social Sciences Press to the call for focusing on issues of common concern to the international community, launching and leading research projects, with the aim of enhancing the international influence of China's philosophy and social sciences research.

The Routledge Handbook of the Belt and Road (2022 Edition) is not an update on the basis of the previous two manuals, but a reevaluation of the development of the past two years, with a total of 104 articles, reflecting the latest trends and the most authoritative interpretation of the BRI.
