GIGA Institute for Asian Studies (Germany)

The GIGA Institute for Asian Studies mainly focuses on political, social, and economic developments as well as phenomena in and across four Asian world regions: Northeast Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australasia. The institute is one of the founding members of the European Alliance for Asian Studies. It operates at the interstices of Asian Studies and the Social Sciences, with a mix of qualitative, quantitative, and interpretative methods called upon. It builds intellectual bridges and fosters methodological pluralism. The GIGA Institute for Asian Studies edits two journals: the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs and Journal of Current Southeast Asian Affairs.
