The Center for Studies of Songxue at Zhejiang University was established in 2002 as a key research base for philosophy and social sciences in Zhejiang province. The center aims to explore and study Song culture in Chinese history, and is committed to studying Chinese ideology, culture, and social system since the Song Dynasty.
The center has five research directions: the study of Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming dynasties and ideology, the study of the culture of the imperial examination system, the study of Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming dynasties and research on Confucianism, the study of Buddhist literature and Buddhism in the Song Dynasty, and the study of literature and culture in the Song and Yuan dynasties.
The center hosts the publication Research on Song Learning and in recent years has focused on building a data database on the history of the imperial examination system.
