Timothy Brook is a Canadian sinologist and Professor of History at the University of British Columbia. His major research fields include the social and cultural history of the Ming Dynasty, modern Chinese history and global history. His major publications include The Confusions of Pleasure: Commerce and Culture in Ming China, China and Historical Capitalism: Genealogies of Sinological Knowledge (co-editor), and The History of Imperial China (editor-in-chief), etc.
